Match Report: From the Irish Times (Thanks to Steve Bell for Report)

"Against a star-studded Leeds United team which included Jackie Charlton and Irish International Johnny Giles, Waterford gave a creditable performance in the Peter Fitzgerald testimonial game before a large attendance at Kilcohan Park last night."

"Waterford, with their new player-coach Martin Ferguson in action and Argentinian Luis Fallone at inside forward, performed even better than the score suggests, for they were on the endof some doubtful decisions by referee Quinn, including a disallowed goal."

"The visitors were a well-drilled polished side whose speed and team work was a deciding factor in their victory."

"Giles had the first two goals in the twenty-fifth and thirty-fifth minute, the second from the penalty spot and five minutes from the interval, Hunter added number three."

"O'Grady made ir 4-0 five minutes after the interval, but Waterford hit back with a goal by Lynch from a free, and Alfie Hale added a second fifteen minutes from time."
